One of New Zealand’s most beautiful and graceful trees attaining a height of 18 – 30m.

Rimu is suited to lowland and hilly areas throughout New Zealand including Stewart Island (sea level – 760m). For best growing conditions Rimu prefers rich moist soil. Shelter should be provided while young. Rimu has bronze coloured weeping young foliage, which goes green with age.

Maori used to harvest the fruits. The timber was used for a wealth of purposes including building construction, furniture and joinery.
